College of Southern Maryland
The NSDC Institutional Chapter at the College of Southern Maryland was built with the aim of serving as a community for those within different majors at the university, who want to network and learn more about Data Science specifically. The College of Southern Maryland currently offers two distinct programs which focus on business analytics (one in the Business department and one in the Technology department). The college is preparing a new degree program in Data Science, and the NSDC Chapter is aimed at providing support and assistance to these programs as well as other university programs that participate in data science activities. This chapter was founded in June of 2022. Read on to learn more about upcoming activities, events, and opportunities by this Chapter!
Students of the College of Southern Maryland are welcome to join this Chapter. To join an NSDC Chapter at another Institution (university or college), or to join a Regional Chapter (Midwest, Northeast, South, or West), visit the Chapter Central website.
Chapter Activities & Projects
The emphasis of this chapter is on networking and community building among data science enthusiasts across the university. The team is focused on attending NSDC events and gradually organizing their own events for the community. The chapter would support CSM students in data science courses (particularly with program-required capstone projects) with NSDC resources as well as expose students in other programs to data science literacy. It aims at sharing data science resources with regional colleges not hosting NSDC chapters yet as well as offering data science-based services to community organizations. The team is focused on curating meaningful cross-discipline projects for faculty and students to collaborate on.
