WCAG Guidelines

This NEBDHub website attempts to meet the accessibility principles as outlined by WCAG 2.0 and WAI-ARIA 1.1. As a result, this website’s content has been made more accessible to a wider range of people, including individuals experiencing blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity, and combinations thereof. By implementing and adhering to these guidelines, this website’s web content has also become more usable in general.

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of this website relies on the following computer languages and systems to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

External Accessibility Plugins and Overlays

The NEBDHub website relies on some external plugins to provide accessibility features. These plugins are available for use on every page of the Hub website. Using the GTranslate plugin, users can translate any page of the website into Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Korean, and Spanish from the original American English. The GTranslate WordPress plugin can be found in the bottom right corner of each webpage. The One Click Accessibility plugin allows users to modify certain aspects of the NEBD Hub website’s appearance, including font sizing and color contrast, among other features. The One Click Accessibility plugin can be found on the top right of each webpage. As these plugins are not managed by the Hub, we cannot guarantee that their features will not present challenges for individuals with accessibility needs. We encourage users to explore these third party platforms’ accessibility features directly.

Other Third-Party Sites & Components

The NEBD Hub also uses some third party tools and services, such as YouTube, Twitter, Slack, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and others. As these websites are not managed by the Hub, we cannot guarantee that their features will not present challenges for individuals with accessibility needs. We encourage users to explore these third party platforms’ accessibility features directly.

Additional NEBD Hub Accessibility Efforts

In addition to the NEBDHub website, our Team is working on other accessibility initiatives related to our event management and programming. In particular, we are developing English transcriptions and Spanish translations of previous online webinars from the COVID Information Commons (CIC). The aim of this and future initiatives is to ensure that all original content that we produce is accessible to everyone.
