Texas Southern University
The NSDC Institutional Chapter at Texas Southern University aims to focus on building a strong data science community on campus through workshops, hackathons, guest speaker events, and collaborative projects. Students would gain hands-on experience in data analysis, machine learning, and real-world problem solving.
The chapter was founded in August 2025. Read on to learn more about upcoming activities, events, and opportunities brought to you by this Chapter!

Chapter Activities & Projects
Alongside workshops, hackathons, guest speaker events, and collaborative projects, the chapter would connect with the broader NSDC Community by participating in national competitions, sharing project outcomes, and collaborating with other university chapters on initiatives that promote data literacy and innovation.
This Chapter plans to support a Data Science Mentorship Program, in which they will pair experienced students with beginners to guide them on projects, coding skills, and career advice.
Community Data Challenges will also be hosted, as participants work on local datasets in the Houston area regarding public health, transportation, environmental issues, and community development to create actionable insights and solutions for the city.
