National Student Data Corps: March 2022 Data Science Career Panel

In honor of Women’s History Month, the NEBD Hub and the National Student Data Corps (NSDC) launched a month-long program in March 2022 called the Women in STEM campaign. This campaign leveraged social media and newsletters to share resources, opportunities, and information about how women can have a successful career in data science. This campaign culminated with the March 2022 NSDC Career Panel, held on Friday, March 25th.

Launched by our National Student Data Corps, the Data Science Career Panel webinar series features experts from academia, government, industry, and nonprofits who share their experiences learning and using data science. These virtual events aim to highlight the wide range of educational opportunities and career paths available in data science and data analytics.

Panelists:

Albina Shapiro, Nielsen

Albina Shapiro is the Lead Data Scientist at Nielsen, an award-winning global leader in audience insights, data and analytics. Since completing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Operations Research at Columbia University, Albina has become a versatile leader with a proven track record of energizing teams and solving complex business problems with data-driven approaches. Albina has honed her analytics expertise and management skills through over 8 years of experience at JetBlue Airways, and over 3 years of experience at Nielsen.

Metika Sikka, (Quantum Black) McKinsey & Company

Metika Sikka is a Data Science Fellow (Quantum Black) at McKinsey & Company, an advanced analytics firm that focuses on improving performance outcomes for organizations. At Quantum Black, Metika engages with clients at private, public, and social corporations and organizations to gather information and design data-driven initiatives to solve their most difficult business problems. With her education from St. Xavier’s College, University of Mumbai, and Columbia University, Metika has gained degrees in Applied Statistics and Business Analytics.

Romane Goldmuntz, Newell Brands

Romane Goldmuntz is a Data Scientist at Newell Brands, a global consumer goods company that focuses on providing planet-friendly brands to its consumers. Romane drives analytics initiatives that contribute to a business’ goals and objectives to enhance consumer experience. She was also accepted to the Data Science for All: Women’s Summit as a Fellow to increase gender diversity in the data science field. Romane has received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Engineering from Solvay Brussels School, and a Master’s degree in Data Science from Columbia University.
