Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (GloPID-R) COVID-19 Research Synergies Meetings
The COVID-19 Research Synergies Meetings, a GloPID-R initiative, will take place on July 16, 17, 20, and 21, 2020, 12:00-3:00 UTC. A panel discussion will complete the series of meetings on July 23, 2020.
This virtual event will bring together key stakeholders in the research response to combat COVID-19. Participants will include GloPID-R members and the researchers funded by their COVID-19 rapid response calls, representatives from the WHO, and other major research and funding organizations alongside contributors from countries affected by second peaks, waves or high incidence.
Each virtual session will be led by two Co-Chairs who will set the perspective for the meeting, followed by a series of researchers who will speak about their progress and challenges. The sessions will end with a 45-minute discussion on areas of synergy and how stakeholders can coordinate moving forward.
On July 23rd, the Co-Chairs of the four sessions will come together to provide summaries of their sessions and; with invited guests including WHO representatives, regulators, and funders; hold a panel discussion on actions needed to move forward in these areas to end the pandemic and prepare for second wave and other emerging issues.
1) July 16: Ending COVID-19: Vaccines – Co-Chairs: Melanie Saville (CEPI) and Anita Zaidi (BMGF)
4) July 21: Social Sciences Research in COVID-19 – Co-Chairs: Ken Rochel de Camargo (University of Rio de Janeiro) and Kristy Crooks (Hunter New England Health, Australia)
While the meetings will be limited to 1000 registered participants, live streaming on YouTube will be available to allow unlimited access to those who are interested to listen in. Click here to learn more about this event.
