This is the first community call for the AUTONOMOUS OR CONNECTED
VEHICLES topic of the National Transportation Data Challenge: “How might
we leverage autonomous or enhanced vehicles to improve our constituents’
safety? How might we navigate technological, policy, and social
considerations involved?”
During the first part of the call, we will go over what we mean by
‘connected vehicle’ and then we will have some special guest experts in this
domain:
* Bruno Fernandez-Ruiz, Chief Technology Officer, Nexar Inc., and
* Mike Branch, Vice President Business Intelligence, GEOTAB
They will talk about the types of data their customers generate, what they
currently do with it (existing use cases and internal R&D) and future plans
including availability for R&D. This will also be a good chance to discuss
specific data needs and opportunities for collaboration.
Participants will have an opportunity to share current or proposed projects using connected vehicles to improve safety or using the data generated by CVs to improve road user safety.
